Happy 4th of July!

Hope you all have a spectacular 4th of July and do some celebrating and eating with friends. We are going out to Morgan Creek Vineyards, where we'll enjoy sitting outside listening to some live music, eating a picnic dinner, with fireworks to follow at dark. We went last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. A perfectly lovely way to celebrate the holiday, casual style.

********************************************* We had dinner with some blog friends on Monday night. JustaBeachKat was in town for some medical tests, so we met up with her and her hubby, George, as well as Whistlestop Sandi and her hubby, Bill, for a night out at GianMarco's, the Italian restaurant we went to for our anniversary. They were just as bowled over as we were! Fantastic company and delicious food, what fun it was to see them all again.

*****************************************So, back to the diningroom. WOW! Thank you ALL so much for stopping by and commenting on the diningroom. I really loved reading all your responses on what you thought and WHY you thought it. The landslide vote was to keep it RED, so that is exactly what I'm going to do for now. I found a few inspiration pics to show you. This one is much grayer than I would probably ever do, but it's so pretty. I really like this color mixed with gold.
Same room, look how elegant it is. (Top 3 pics from Southern Accents online)
And this pic shows that lovely blue that we are all loving right now. I think this might be Woodlawn or Palladian Blue.
I do love the red, but when I see pics like this one above & below (from Something's Gotta Give) I swoon....I know we all fell in love with this movie set and wanted to copy this look. This is what gets me going in that lighter, airier direction. See all that creamware on the buffet...gorgeous!
So, for now, I'll hold onto my inspiration pics and dream a little bit longer. I'm not ready to commit right now anyway...I've just been mulling it over in my head for a few weeks. But, you never know when the urge will strike again! It was fun to hear all of your ideas and I appreciate each and every comment. I'll definitely keep y'all posted when I get it all figured out. I do love the idea of a Photoshop pic just to get a visual and I'm going to work on that, but I probably won't be painting anytime soon. When Fall gets here, it might be another story.

Happy 4th to you all!

I would love any of those dining rooms! It was great to see you enjoying time with your friends. We're going to take in an annual parade in a small town near us. Then we'll feast on grilled hot dogs, sausages, and Brats and POT LUCK galore at a gathering in a nearby park. Watching fireworks later is a must! Happy Indepedence Day to YOU!!

You always post the prettiest pictures of different rooms. They all look lovely. Did you notice the bookshelf over the door in the last picture?

We have nothing planned for tomorrow. Dom is working, so that kills the day!

Have a safe and happy 4th!

I think my favorite "movie" house is the one in Something's Gotta Give. I love the colors, the lightness, and the airyness (and the location, too!). I could be very happy in a house like that! ::Jill

Happy 4th to you, Ms. Rhoda...I for one am delighted you are staying "red" for the time being. If you ever get the feeling that posting a daily blog is too much work, please remember that so many of us love to lurk at your spaces..LOL.. :-) Brown-Eyes

I love, love, love that last creamy color! I wonder if it's difficult to get the right paint color for that effect, though? The one time I considered cream I got frustrated because all the chips seemed either too yellow, or too pink, or too gray, or too peach. We ended up doing a more saturated color because we didn't have time to spend doing samples of so many "creams".

If you decide to go that way I will be watching closely to learn from your experience! :)

It is so interesting to read of what you're thinking and to learn new ideas from you!! Can't wait to see which room your talents lead us to next :)
We will be traveling to the Lightwood community to celebrate the 4th. It will be a time of family, friends, and lots of food. What a beautiful way to spend the day :)

Oh how lucky to meet up with friends...Kat had mentioned it and the polenta lol...I did offer to make her polenta if she'd come visit...mine is wonderful and I don't care if I'm bragging, it's the truth lol! I know whichever color you decide for the dining room will be just right for you and that is at it should be dear Rhoda...just as you like it!

Now that I can actually "picture" it I like it just as well as the red. Either way you go it will still look fabulous.

I think the creamware would look beautiful against the blue walls. Just my thoughts. All the pics are gorgeous!

Happy Fourth! Hope you enjoy Morgan Creek. We'll be at The American Village, an annual event for us. My husband and kids are Rev. War re-enactors there.

The Dining Room: I do LOVE that gray! And it looks so nice with pewter or silver! I've never liked gray much, but I do like that first dining room pic!

Ok Rhoda, I figured out how to delete the "word verification" on my site. Please let me know if it shows up - if it does, that means I'm not as smart as I think and I didn't figure it out at all.

Hope you have a blessed 4th of July. We are at the cottage. . . loving our family time. We are having a gathering here at our place tomorrow with some of our "cottage" neighbors.

Blessings,

Sher

Wow! What gorgeous pics! I love the silvery gray with gold; beautiful chairs in that pic, too. I just love the way these gray/blues work with everything from traditional to rustic to beach - so versatile! Although red is my favorite color, I'm not a fan of red rooms; they feel dark, heavy and closed-in to me. The lighter colors feel like someone opening up their arms wide with joy, though, to me! We are each unique in how we respond to colors, aren't we?

Looks like you had a wonderful time with friends!
