Driving Miss Daisy

Go ahead and hate me. We're going back to the beach for a few days next week. By the time you read this, I will probably already have arrived in Destin. And this is a pretty funny story. Just goes to show you that blogging can really reach across the miles.

Me and one of my very sweet blog friends, Kat at JustABeachKat, met in real life last year when we went down to the gulf coast of Florida on vacation. Since then, we've seen each other several times and stayed in touch. Last time we saw Kat and her hubby, George, here in Birmingham, we had dinner with them and it was mentioned that when they travel, they need someone to stay with Miss Daisy, their adorable Wheaten Terrier. You can see I met Miss Daisy earlier this year when we were down there on vacation again. You might remember that Kat and I had a day of shopping and lunch. What a fun time we had!

So, when they mentioned needing someone to stay with Miss Daisy when they travel, I piped up and said to keep us in mind. We surely wouldn't mind going down and staying in their beautiful house and taking care of Miss Daisy for a few days. :) Sure enough, Kat called me recently to make sure we were serious and I assured her we were!

So, we'll be driving Miss Daisy around this week in the golf cart and enjoying some more seafood and hopefully a little sunshine, lazing by Kat's backyard pool OR the beach nearby, while Kat and George are traveling. I've got a couple posts saved up until I get back and I'll be checking in daily from Kat's computer too. It's about time for some holiday inspiration and I've got a few things to show you from a Christmas open house I recently went to, as well as introducing you to a new blog that I've recently discovered. Come back on Monday for that. You are going to love him!

This is gonna be fun! I get to be Kat for the week. :)

Well, Rhoda if you're ever busy and can't make it....give Kat my name!

She 'knows' me...I visit her occasionally in cyberspace!

Have fun with Miss Daisy!

if you get a chance, stop by Bayou Art & Antiques in the Santa Rosa area. If you've never been there, go. I think you'll like it. An artist and his wife own it. I own three of his paintings. Fun stuff!

Eat some seafood for me!

It's so nice to see you and Kat together. Both of you are such elegant women! I'm sure that you are both amazed that the internet brought you together.

I know I am amazed every day at the friendships I now enjoy through blogging.

Thanks for more inspiration!

HI, girls! I knew you'd all get a kick out of that. Well, they just left for their trip so hubby & I are making ourselves at home this Sunday a.m. Miss Daisy is the sweetest thing and we are gonna have fun with her this week. Lots of walks and riding on the golfcart. Let's see, staying at Kat's villa & enjoying the sunshine, beach, & good seafood...well, it doesn't get much better than this.

I've got some fun posts scheduled for this week, but will probably wait until I get back to share FL pics with you (and of course, I'll take pics...I have to show you a few good pics of Kat's beautiful home), but I'll be checking in & visiting with you this week! Thanks for coming by!

It's a rough life, but someone has to do it. LOL

That is too funny!! So, what you and Kat are actually telling me. . . is that by the time our 14 year old daughter is off to collegle I still will not be free to up and go. . . because I too have a dog ~ Mr. Winston Churchill, our Yorkshire Terrier!!

You're a good friend to Kat and Miss Daisy is a lucky dog!! And hey, Kat's house doesn't look to shabby to stay in on your end either ~ LOL.

So, do you travel to watch 14 year old girls too ~ just kidding!!

Blessings,

Sher

OMG...Driving Miss Daisy. Hysterical! And how fun - what a great idea!

I think I need to use the world o' blogs to find someone to watch Miss Maggie when we go out of town! Though a Jersey Shore beach house probably isn't a big sell in the middle of the winter. :-)

Have fun!!

R~ That sounds like so much fun~~~ for you, DH AND "le dawg" (grins!)!!!! Can't wait to see him riding in a "basket", on the front of your bicycle, as you cruise the neighborhood! (And if yer like me, you'll be doing it at DUSK, so you can "innocently" peek in lit windows to see how the gals there decorate!!!)... So, keep us POSTED on THAT, too, ok??? ENJOY!!! Hugs, Linda

Rhoda (I mean Katfortheweek)~ I don't know how far it is from where you are (20-30 min??) but you need to try out the Red Bar in Grayton Beach. I posted about it on my blog. It is fun shabby chic with great food and a nighttime jazz band.
Y'all check it out and let me know~ I bet Peter would love it.
