Christmas Spirit

I've been Fifi'd! Check out Fifi Flowers, if you haven't already. I won one of her giveaways and will receive a set of notecards of the photo of my choice that Fifi drew and I chose my laundryroom, which goes along great with today's post of lime green. Isn't it so cute?! I'm excited that I finally won a drawing of hers and will cherish these and I love how she captured it so well. She has an Etsy shop too with all sorts of pretty things she has done. Thank you, Fifi!

Christmas inspiration for me comes from all sorts of places. Pottery Barn. Ballard Designs. Mary Carol Garrity's Christmas book has been a huge inspiration for me last year and this one and I love all the natural decor shown in her book with acorns, pinecones, and real boughs of holly and spruce, and the way she mixes it in with some gold, silver and glitz. I guess you could sum it up this way. I like a mix of things and don't think I could pick just one look. Have you noticed all the lime green out there the last few years in Christmas decor? I've really been attracted to that color and since I love it all year round, it only seems natural to bring it in at Christmas too, so the last couple of years, I've collected lots of lime green ornaments, shiny and sparkly. I also do a lot with bronze, gold & silver mixed with those natural elements and have started a little mercury glass collection, so you can see I'm all over the place when it comes to Christmas decor and you'll see that as I share my Christmas decor. So, we'll start in the kitchen this year... When it comes to decorating for Christmas, don't forget those little nooks and crannies that are so much fun to add sparkle and cheer to during the holidays. This little shelf above the sink in my kitchen is perfect for displaying my green Bordallo bunny dishes all during the year, but when Christmas comes around, it's extra special with some added green and red of prized ornaments and keepsakes from friends. I found the Christmas Spirit sign last year at Homegoods on after-Christmas clearance and it was fun pulling it out and finding just the right spot this year. Those of you who were reading last year will remember I decorated this little shelf, but this year I changed it up a bit and I love it even more.
It fits perfectly under the shelf and I put it up with velcro. Lime green satin ribbon is used to hang the sparkly lime acorns. The topiary tree is a year-round fixture and the hand-painted Santa candlesticks were a gift from my long time friend, Wanda, years ago. I love them for their old-fashioned quality and they are perfect in my little nook.
The tiny wreath was won this year in Stacy's, 19 Butternut giveaway and I loved all the little Christmas things she sent me. This was perfect here to add to the look. Thanks, Stacy!
A few snips of holly from the yard adds to the simple scene too.
I adore these tiny green pinecones and acorns and have been lucky enough to find a couple of packs of them in the last couple of years.

Skinny Santa was also a gift from another friend years ago and they all just work so well together on this little ledge. That large green ornament was a yardsale find last year.
Here's a closer peek of the painted Christmas Spirit sign.

Hope you all are catching the Christmas Spirit yourselves. I'm working away in my little Christmas nest, spreading the cheer around our home and I'll be sharing more with you as I get things up and done!

Rhoda, this is beautiful! I have used lime green also and this year mixed it with my brown transferware and included some ivory/white in snowflakes. I thought the lime mixed with the brown and cream really popped.

I am from Indian Springs just south of B'ham and enjoy your blog very much! Looking forward to seeing more!

I swear sometimes I think we were separated at birth. I can't tell you how many times I have looked at those green bunny plates. And I just looked at those green pinecone ornaments on Sat. & the only reason I didn't get them is I knew I had TJX "rewards money" waiting in my mailbox when I got back into town!!! Hope you had a good Thanksgiving!

Oh, I am so missing getting to decorate this year, but with the move coming on the 15th, it would be foolish. I started a mercury glass collection last year after Christmas, and have added to it all through the year. I can hardly wait to be able to decorate with my new treasures.

I love the lime green that is being used so much now, it is a nice change.

Enjoy the season and great pic for the notecrds!

Rhoda, I must admit, I'm a stalker! I MUST check your blog everyday! I love all of the great things you do in your home. This is no exception! Love the lime green with the red. And then today, you moved up another notch for me! When you mentioned Mary Carol Garrity, I knew I was in good company. I just moved to Mobile from Kansas City. Mary Carol (who happens to be a doll!) has a store in North KC and then her original stores in Atchison, KS. Each year, she has a tour of her home and believe me, it's to die for. I didn't make it this year for her holiday open house, but I'm sure it was over the top. So, you are warned, I'm a stalker. Keep up the great stuff and I'll enjoy it daily!

LOVE, LOVE...it all!! I am just getting started.
I SO want my stockings to complement each other or at least match, but my kids refuse to put up new ones and must stay with "their" stockings. My five year old still has the pink one that says "baby's first christmas" sigh...she just loves it. Oh well, what a mother will give up for the sake of her children - hee hee.

Hi Rhoda,
I love you C-mas shelf. I also love how you used green Bordallo bunny dishes that aren't the usual C-mas decoration. I am inspired to pull out my decorations now and see what I have and how I can mix it up too.

Wonderful Inspiration here!
I too love the lime greens..they "pop" so well in almost any theam!
I too have dofferent collecting styles..some of my christmas decorations are very much the basic green & red & then I find myself collecting blues & silvers. One way i find it easy to decorate with different styled things is to keep each style to a room. For instance I have all my silver and blues in the dinning room and me Greens & Reds in the living room with the tree.
Ahh I love getting into the spirit!

Rhoda,
Congratulations on winning one of Fifi's drawings, so cute!
Your kitchen shelf looks gorgeous. I had to scroll back and forth to see if it was out of the PB or Ballard books or if it was yours. Bravo.....
Hey, great tip on the post below for enlarging pictures. If I get a minute I'll be back to try it out. I've always loved how Kim enlarges her pictures at Daisy Cottage. Thanks for the info.

The cards are so cute! She does a great job with her art.
All of the Christmas inspiration is so wonderful! Your touches are just so elegant and not cluttered at all. I'm always afraid that my groupings will look so cluttered. Traditional reds and greens are my favorite way to decorate. Hopefully I'll be finished this week with ours.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!
