Blogging sure has been interesting! I've had the pleasure of meeting several people that I've known online...in person. I've belonged to a decorating board & have met many of those girls over the years & it's always been so much fun to finally meet someone in person that you have gotten to know online first.
So, back up....about 3 months ago when I found a blog called BooMama. I read all her hilarious stories about her husband, David, and her cute little son, Alex. I knew she was from the South, but not sure where she was exactly. I posted on her blog a few times & made the reference to Birmingham. Well, she emailed me to ask if I knew she lived in Birmingham too? Well, no...I didn't know that. We chatted a few times by email, talking about some yardsales that I had been to in her neighborhood, etc. She's a very funny lady & really knows how to tell a good story. I have always wished I was that funny...but, I just didn't get the funny gene. Anyway, I asked her where she went to church & well, it turns out that we go to the same church. We switched churches back in June & had just started there at the time we talked. So, that was funny.....I wondered if we would ever run into each other. Of course, I only knew her as BooMama, not her real name. And in case you are wondering, as I did, what is a BooMama, she will tell you that too, on her sidebar.
Then, she posted this post...about getting her hair cut & there was a picture of her...and the back of her hair too. So, I had a clue who she was, but this is a big church we attend & the chances of me running into her were pretty slim.
A couple of weeks ago, we got to church fairly early for the 9:00 service & proceeded to walk over to the general area we usually sit. I saw her sitting there with her hubby & instantly knew...it was BooMama! How funny was that? I sat down & told my hubby...I think that's the girl, BooMama, that I've emailed & chatted with. So, I sidled down the row since church hadn't started yet and sat down beside her and said, "Are you BooMama?". She turned around to face me with a shocked & surprised look on her face, to hear her blog be mentioned in church. She had said on her blog that she doesn't like to talk about it around her friends, so I'm quite sure it was a shock to hear that in church. I told her who I was & she remembered our emails & we chatted & got to visit a few minutes before church started. She said that this was a first, to be recognized out in public, at church.
Isn't that a hoot?? We are totally in different phases of life & different ages, so I doubt that we'll run into each other a whole lot. But, it was really fun to actually meet Sophie in person...yes, I see that now she has let the cat out of the bag & told everyone her real name! She's really sweet & friendly in person & I'm so glad we got to meet! If you haven't been over there, check out her blog. You will be entertained. She's very Southern & very funny.
It's a small blog world after all!

What a great and happy coincidence that you both attend the same church!! One of my other 'blogosphere favourites' is actually going to fly to a strange city and spend a few days with one of her bloggy friends who she's never met in person before. What an awesome adventure! I'd sure love to spend some time with some of you southern ladies. Your take on life is just so relaxed, down-to-earth, and 'down home' -- I find that refreshing and inspiring. (Plus you have nice warm weather when we're human ice cubes for 3 months of the year!!!)
This is the same with me and Alicia, who I met online via blog. She goes to my church also and we are forming a great friendship via email but we have yet to meet. Great story thanks for sharing.
Rhoda that's great! What a small world we live in, indeed!
I imagine her expression was much the same as mine when a reader came over to our table at Hemingways in Springfield. T'was fun meeting her as I know it was fun for you meeting Boomama.

That is such a cool story!!
I love it. It is a small world, but I wouldn't want to paint it.

I met a couple fellow-bloggers in Atlanta this year. That was really fun.
You're welcome any time in Oregon!

A day isn't really a day without a little dose of Boomama, right?
What a fun blogging world we live in!
This is such fun! I would so love to meet up with all my blogging friends...so far I have met Jen and it was fantastic!
I think that is just a hoot how you figured out it was her! What fun!
Hugs,
Sue
It was great to meet you, too! And I looked for you Sunday - but there were different people in the spot where you sat last week. In the spirit of Christian fellowship I decided not to walk down there and tell them that they needed to move out of Rhoda's seat.:-)
Awe.....that is so cool!! I love to hear about things like that!! So neat!!
This makes the countless hours of commenting all wothwhile!!!!
what fun
I think that is awesome! I have met a couple of boardsters from another board, and it was really fun. We went antiquing at my favorite place and had a nice time together.
Good for you, meeting BooMama! I will have to cehck out her blog!
Wow- what a conicidence. I always thought she'd be fun to meet. When they did their pod cast and revealed their real names, I'd have never guessed Sophie; I was thinking Shelby... I knew Big Mama's name from emails we've exchanged.
Oh I LOVED this story! That is just awesome! How fun, fun, FUN!
So glad you two met!

What could your middle name be....Marie,Lynne,Faye,Jane,June...am I close?
That is exciting. Maybe you should get a group of Alabama bloggers together for an afternoon tea (sounds Southern, doesn't it?).
I enjoy reading Boo Mama, also...she's a hoot! Had no idea she was from B'ham.
Great story the world can be so small at times.
That is so neat!

How funny! I will have to keep my eyes open for BooMama as well. I confess I was in a little 2nd hand shop in Cahaba Heights and thought this is just the place Rhoda would love~
Oh I love this story! WOW! That is so cool.

Rhoda,
I'm glad you met BooMama....What a treat to meet a fellow blogger....
Our church is less that 200 members and I'm pretty sure I'm the only blogger in it. Most don't know what a blogger is.....
We are having your hot dog sauce recipe today for lunch...Can't wait! Betty
How fun! I have met people off of other forums (American Saddlebred horse forum) but usually it is because we find out that we will be at the same horse show...but no one from this blog.
How funny! I do love to read her blog, she is very funny and I relate to her stories of relatives especially. Glad you two got to meet.
Neat story, Rhoda! I'm new to blogging and honestly - what got me started was meeting so many wonderful new friends - so I decided to start a blog, too.
I've been enjoying reading yours for many months but never commented until now! Please stop by my blog to visit sometime :)
Have a wonderful day!
