Foyer Christmas Magic

Foyer tables are the perfect place to decorate for the seasons and Christmas is my favorite time of the year to adorn this spot with sparkle and cheer. I found a few things on clearance after Christmas last year and it was a lot of fun discovering them again. The Joyful Tidings glittered letters were found, I think at Kohls. And this year I decided to continue with the limey green with white and a little red thrown in the mix too on the foyer table. Those large sparkly red and green balls were clearance finds last year too. I sprayed a few of my pinecones white and they mix right in too. Some old berry garland that I've had a long time from a yardsale adds a lot of pop. I love to highlight a few special ornaments here and there and you can see a little mirrored treasure chest in the birdbath. This is the same white iron birdbath that I scored this summer at a yardsale.

And I decided since I wanted to use my lime green small acorn ornaments here, I'd just make myself a white tree. Picked up a few old limbs outside and painted them white. I anchored them in the urn with seashells. Sticks can have a whole new look with a coat of white paint!
A few special ornaments are grouped here and I love to use fresh greens snipped and added to bowls and baubles. You know that most Christmas tree lots will give you all the extra branches that they've lopped off, right? I just go and load up my trunk and have plenty for the mantel and around the house. They do smell good, but not quite as strong as a real tree. I have a fake tree, but the real greens help a little. Just snip and tuck!
Found those green glittered hummingbirds last year too from Homegoods.
The new hurricane lantern (from Linden Street) takes center stage on the foyer table this year. Have you seen these cool battery operated candles? I started seeing them a couple of years ago and finally got myself a set of 3. They are a little pricey, but I used coupons from Michaels for 40 or 50% off and that helps a lot. I love these things! They flicker just like the real thing and I love that this hurricane is big enough to hold 3 of them. Add a little fake snow and some pretty balls and that's all you need.

Two more special ornaments that have been with me for years are hanging on the tree. Love this pretty little fairy.
And flying Santa is perfect for the white tree. I move them around from year to year.
A white iron urn (from a yardsale of course) holds some lime green reindeer moss and my little white bird from the diningroom shelf. It's always fun to move things around the house and use ordinary things at Christmas to make them extraordinarily beautiful for the season. One little thing I picked up from Mary Carol Garrity's Christmas book is that any ornaments that you lay around in a bowl or on a table, tie a little bit of ribbon to it to give it an extra special look.

I tried out my little video on my camera again to give you an up close look at the foyer table, so check it out! If you like it, I'll have to do more videos. I can only do about 35 seconds at a time since that's all my memory card will hold. Merry Christmas from our house to yours. Hope you enjoyed more of the tour this Christmas. There's still more to come!

Well, Happy Belated Birthday. I love your foyer decorations, gave me some great ideas. I am adding lime green to my purple tree and some additional gold. Hope you have a great day.

Rhoda, The foyer table looks really good. It is so full of Christmas cheer to greet your holiday guests! The lime, white, and red is one of my favorite combinations of Christmas color. Our Living room tree has a good deal of both on it. I love the groupoings of ornaments.
I hope your birthday was fabulous! Have a wonderful week!

What a beautiful tablescape! I love how you creatively put everything together. That hurricane with the flickering candles is beautiful. Makes me want to go out and buy it too! I also love your tree branch idea. That's a great idea! Thanks for sharing.

I love it all and how it's displayed! I'm trying to get better about layering accessories on tables and putting things at different levels like you have done. You and Mary Carol Garrity are my teachers!

Happy Birthday Rhonda! Love the tablescape and the color combination. The video is a great idea - I keep thinking about doing that, but never get around to it!

ARGH!!! I swear coming here is such a double edge sword! I love coming and seeing the simply brilliant and gorgeous things you do. And I look at them and think "hey that's not so hard I think I could do that too!" Then I gather up my stuff...try to kinda copy one of your vignettes...and it is an unmitigated disaster!!! You make it look so simple but it is so HARD and takes so much talent!

On Saturday my husband went to HD and got extra branches and I used them on my outside decorations. I will show what I did on my blog on Thursday.

Hi Rhoda,
I love the lime green!
I started working on my family room today and decided to add lime green instead of the brown and copper in the formal area. So, I am glad that your color was lime green today, you have given me lots of inspiration!
-Cheers, Amy

Everything is so pretty. I need to get some of those candles. I like to have candles lit during the holidays, but with grandchildren, I have to be careful where I put them.

It all looks so wonderful. I love teh lime green and red. So very modern and pretty!

Those candles are great, aren't they? Pricey yes, but they last forever! *smiles* And you can put them in so many places you couldn't have put a real candle. They are just ingenious!

Hi Rhoda! Your pictures are gorgeous and I love all your Christmas decorations! You are so good at this! Love those fake candles, I saw some in Macy's yesterday and thought about buying them, but didn't. I, like you, like to get things on sale.

Oh, I wanted you to know, I did use your instructions on enlarging pictures on my blog a few days ago. The tall ones were great, but the horizontal ones were cut off. I know I'll learn, but the ones that worked out were beautiful. Thanks for sharing that!
Be a sweetie,

Happy belated birthday! I was away from my computer for the weekend baking crazy amounts of cookies and treats (and picking glitter out of my hair, the dog, the floor, etc., LOL!). Your foyer table looks fantastic! I'm sooo behind...I really need to light a fire under it ("it" being me, not your foyer table!!).

Hugs from cold and windy NYC,

I do so admire y'all who have a talent for putting things together to create lovely vignettes! My efforts always look like clutter, lol!

Your birthday date sounded fabulous! What a concert! All the artists you saw are among my all-time favourites. And Michael English! I, too, have been following him for years. (And I thought he was treated most unfairly during his 'fall', especially since two female artists went through similar situations and nobody batted an eye.) He does have the most beautiful voice, doesn't he? I'm so glad he did't quit altogether.

Rhoda I love the foyer you are so talented! You just amaze me with your natural talent of using everyday items to decorate not only for Christmas but all the seasons and holidays. Have a blessed day.
